Whenever I cook for my family, it's not just about feeding their bodies. To me, it is an act of love. I try to cook dishes that they like. At the same time, though, I know I have to get natural nutrients and some fiber into each meal. The thing is, sometimes Chef Mom has to be sneaky.......but it is all about love. Check out this recent dish of pasta with meat sauce.

Penne pasta and meat sauce with a light dusting of Parmesan | Romaine lettuce, shredded (hey I ran out of spinach!), Kale flakes, Parsley flakes, Chopped Onion, Benefiber, Olive oil |
So they enjoyed a tasty meal and the benefits of anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant phytochemicals, gut health promotion effects of pre-biotic fiber, and general health-supporting effects of calcium, magnesium and potassium, and more.
If I had had carrots in the house that day, I would have grated a couple of them and also added them to the sauce ( more fiber, antioxidants, potassium, and a tasty serving of beta-carotene).
As my kids used to say when they were little "yummy for my tummy mummy"…
